Corporate Credit Group

GSC's corporate credit group manages collateralized debt obligation (CDO/CLO) funds in both the U.S. and Europe and two corporate mezzanine lending funds in Europe.  It is comprised of 27 investment professionals.
 
Corporate Debt
 
The corporate debt team manages assets within CDO/CLO funds and GSC Investment Corp., a business development company under the Investment Company Act of 1940.  These CDO/CLO funds invest primarily in middle market corporate loans, broadly syndicated U.S. and European corporate loans, high-yield corporate bonds and U.S. mezzanine corporate debt.  GSC manages these assets within CDO/CLO funds to take advantage of the difference between the investment grade borrowing costs of the CDO/CLO funds and the higher yielding returns on the underlying investments in corporate debt securities.

The selective investment process of the GSC corporate debt team is characterized by detailed business and financial analysis with an emphasis on investing in securities of issuers which are attractively priced, hold senior positions in the issuers’ capital structures and have low leverage through the purchased debt tranche.  In executing this strategy, GSC seeks to invest in securities issued by industry leaders with sustainable market shares in attractive sectors.

GSC Investment Corp. is a specialty finance company externally managed by GSC Group that invests primarily in first and second lien term loans and mezzanine debt of private U.S. middle-market companies and high yield bonds and may opportunistically invest in distressed debt, debt and equity securities of public companies, credit default swaps, emerging market debt, non-U.S. middle market company debt and structured finance vehicles, including collateralized loan obligations (“CLO”) funds. Corporate Mezzanine Lending
 
GSC’s corporate mezzanine lending team provides mezzanine lending in the form of subordinated debt and preferred equity to support financial sponsors, corporations and others seeking to finance leveraged buyouts, strategic acquisitions, growth strategies or recapitalizations in Europe.  This group, which includes 6 investment professionals, manages two funds.  Since 2000, this group has made 65 investments across 16 jurisdictions, 18 industries and 35 sponsors.
